The Ministries of
Outstretched Hands
About Our Shelter Ministry
We started our Shelter Ministry in 2008 after I came out of abusive marriage. I grew up in a good home and had no idea that my country had and to this day continues to have many significant problems with domestic violence and abuse.
After struggling and ultimately escaping from my abusive situation I started meeting with other women who also experienced similar abusive relationships. As I talked with them I learned that around 80% of women are to this day experiencing or have experienced abuse in their marriages or relationships. Some of these unfortunately often are ended with significant bodily injuries and even fatal consequences. Women in these situations usually have very limited income or supportive resources. Unfortunately the government has almost no resources available to help these victims. This is why we decided to help and support these women and their children in their needs.
In 2010 we were able to register our ministry as a public fund. Once done, we rented a dwelling to be used as a safe house in the big city where the greatest need occurred. And so started our Shelter Ministry.
During these earlier times I met lots of beautiful, loving women and mothers who suffered as a result offrom the hands of abusive men. I listened to their stories and provided them with sisterly support. It was a privilege for me, and others, to be able to help them in their daily struggles.
The women who are still suffering from these awful abuses continue to need a peaceful place of safety and understanding that can also provide loving care for them as they discover how to make the right choices for their future and the future of their children.
In 2015 we were able to move into our own shelter house outside of the big city. In our new Shelter Ministry home we were able to even more help for abused women and their children.
We have more good news! We are opening our second shelter in a smaller city. In this new location we are happily looking forward to serving and supporting even more women and children in need.
In our shelters we take full responsibility for safety while we provide housing, food and clothing. Our Shelter Ministry always provides assistance to abused worm but also to their children. These women always come with their children. Sometimes they arrive at our shelters with as many as seven children. In every case they are greeted with loving outstretched hands to give each woman and each child the love and hugs they so rightly deserve.
Our future plans are to help the government and the women to open a larger shelter in the big city. The big city only has a few small, limited resourced shelters that cannot meet the needs of victims of abuse. With our Shelter Ministry locations we have a driving desire to help more women and their children To help those who cast out into harsh weather conditions, left outside to try and fend for themselves, without being able to provide for themselves or their children. We want to be there to help them get out of their difficulties and to look at their futures with hope and goodness.
We have a good workforce that believe that their caring help truly makes a difference in many of the lives that they touch. The needs related to domestic abuse is ongoing and so is our commitment to helping all those that we can help. With your help and partnership we pray that you may take part in our changing destiny project.
